Looking for Incognito in Weybridge

With the growing interest in orthodontic procedures in recent years has come a demand for effective treatments that are comfortable to use, easy to access and most of all discreet when in use. Weybridge Orthodontics is now offering Incognito Weybridge.

At Weybridge Orthodontics we listen to the concerns and needs of our patients, seeking to address them responsibly and effectively. Providing Incognito Weybridge is one of the options we can discuss with our clients.

What is ‘Incognito’?

A new modern and invisible orthodontic device, Incognito is an alternative to the more conventional braces. This new breed of braces is available to people of all ages.

Better known as the Incognito Lingual Bracket System, these braces are placed behind the teeth making them hidden from plain sight. No one will know you are wearing braces, meaning you can still feel confident when you smile.

Customised to be fixed in your mouth and created using state-of-the-art technology, Incognito are the only truly invisible braces available in the UK market that will suit your individual dental needs.

Your prescription can be custom built by your orthodontist, increasing the effectiveness of the treatment you receive.

Why are braces used?

One of the most common dental problems in society today is having crooked teeth. When the teeth are not aligned properly it can lead to a weaker bite, making problems while eating more likely to occur.

If you have misaligned teeth you may also find it harder to keep them cleaned correctly, this can lead to an increase in problems such as tooth decay and gum disease.

If your teeth and jaw are in an abnormal position it could lead to the shape of your face appearing to be affected.

Finally, many people with crooked teeth feel self-conscious about their smile, in severe cases, they may try to avoid smiling completely.

Using braces can correct all of the above problems, leading to increased comfort in the area of the mouth, teeth, and jaw, as well as increased confidence in daily life.  We hope that by treating your misaligned teeth we also treat your self-esteem.

Before starting treatment with any type of brace

Before you start treatment with braces, Incognito or conventional, you need to ensure your oral health is of a high standard. You need to maintain this standard via brushing and flossing throughout your treatment.

You should be aware of the fact that wearing any braces can increase the risks of tooth decay and gum disease. You should consult with your dentist or orthodontist to gain the best advice and instructions about oral cleaning routines while you are wearing your braces.

How long will you need to wear your braces?

The length of time you need to wear your brace will vary from individual to individual, your dental professional will consult with you about this time scale.

Is Invisalign in Weybridge better than Smile Direct?

Clear and invisible aligners are the newest addition to the club of orthodontic tools that our dentists use to treat tooth misalignment, but there are aligners which are available for at-home use. The market leaders across both types are Invisalign Weybridge and Smile Direct; which is considered better? Let’s take this head-on and get some clarity on these clear aligner manufacturers.

The beginning of the clear aligner began being tested back in the ’70s and was referred to as a dental splint. They showed that the elastic force generated by plastic under tension could move teeth over time, but this seemed initially like a dead end.

In the ’90s, the idea took a great leap forward when two medical students decided to pair these dental splints with computer-guided orthodontics. The role of the computer was to run an anatomically correct model of a generic patient’s mouth. This could later be calibrated to meet the unique dental situation of each patient.

From this model, the quantity of force and time required to move teeth to their new positions could be accurately predicted. Knowing how hard each tooth needs to be pushed or pulled, and from what angles these forces need to be applied allows an aligner to be created which can apply those forces when under tension.

The aligners themselves, although deceptively simple in appearance, are extremely personalised and have to be used in the correct sequence to be effective. This created a manufacturing problem of how to cheaply make one-off items. It was the early 21st century and the rise of 3D printers that proved to be the solution.

With all of the technical hurdles crossed, we soon had our Invisalign Weybridge. Allowing us to provide aligners, the task of an aligner manufacturer and dentist is complementary by working inside of dental clinics like Weybridge Orthodontics as partners. The invisible brace company can rely on the expertise and guidance of our dentists to help patients through their treatment. It’s in the interest of the manufacturer, the clinic and the patient that the treatment with these braces is effective.

Our dentists provide the initial assessment and present these clear aligners as a possible solution to orthodontic issues. If treatment is pursued by the patient, carrying out an oral scan or taking a dental mould which is used to calibrate the computer model is typically the next stage.

Aligners that are not provided by dentists in practices do not operate in the same manner. Advertising directly to potential patients via TV and online, there is little motivation in them exploring any other orthodontic solutions other than the aligners that they manufacture. The reliance on home moulding kits introduces a lot of uncertainty into the effectiveness of the finished aligners, as a poorly taken mould will result in an incorrectly calibrated computer model and less, or ineffective aligners.

The volume of passion that many online manufacturers have compared to staff like ours is lower. As a local Invisalign Weybridgepractice, losing that one to one service that is associated with good quality dentistry and higher levels of care also results in the loss of personal responsibility for patients, which we pride ourselves with having as a community family dentist.

Understanding orthodontics in Weybridge

Weybridge Orthodontics are pleased to offer a range of services in orthodontics Weybridge, Surrey.  Maybe, we should explain what we mean by orthodontic services, as we are aware there may be people who do not completely understand this medical field.

Orthodontic treatment aims to align protruding, crowded or crooked teeth, this helps to correct any problems with the bite of the teeth, as well as improving their overall appearance. The most well known orthodontic devices are braces.

As a dental practice we are proud to offer orthodontics Weybridge as we want to help improve the smiles of our patients, by aligning their teeth so they sit correctly in the mouth. Having correctly aligned teeth has numerous benefits, not least the boost to self-confidence it inevitably engenders.

Why are orthodontics used?

Crooked teeth are a common issue for people, this is more widespread than you would think. If your teeth are not aligned correctly it can make it harder to keep your teeth and gums clean, making you more vulnerable to tooth decay and other forms of damage, as well as gum disease. The bite of the teeth may also be affected, this may lead to difficulties eating in some severe cases.

If your teeth and jaw are in an abnormal position it can lead to the shape of your face appearing to be affected.

Orthodontics is also useful in the treatment of other conditions such as cleft lips and palettes.

There are three main benefits to the use of orthodontics.

1.       Straightening teeth prevents crowding.

2.       Correcting the alignment of the teeth improves the bite.

3.       Prevents other types of damage or issues occurring due to inadequate dental hygiene.

The most widely known orthodontic devices are braces, these are used to help the teeth become realigned into a correct position within the mouth. The braces are fitted into the mouth and worn in place by the client for a prescribed period, this varies based on the type of device used and the needs of the individual being treated.

When to start orthodontic treatment

Around the age of 12 we find that a child’s teeth have been replaced by the adult ones, this may differ slightly depending on the child. We look to see how many of the adult teeth have come through and when, as well as try to gain an understanding of the development of the face and jaw before making any treatment decisions.

Orthodontic treatments can be used in adults of any age. These treatments should not be used in cases where there is not a high standard of oral hygiene, as these treatments can increase the risks of tooth decay and gum problems.

If you are considering orthodontic treatment you must maintain good oral hygiene practices throughout treatment, you will be able to access professional advice to aid you in this.

Our practice is here to help and advise you, should you need orthodontics Weybridge. Our practice is friendly and approachable, we are always happy to assist you with any enquiry you may have, and we will endeavour to answer any questions you may have regarding your treatment. Invisalign treatment with orthodontics in Weybridge

If you are looking for Invisalign to straighten your teeth we at Weybridge Orthodontics can work to achieve the most favourable result with your treatment. Invisalign is designed to straighten teeth in the same way as braces, however it will be done discreetly. At Weybridge Orthodontics we offer a range of treatments to solve our patients’ dental issues. Invisalign Weybridge is a popular solution to fix misaligned teeth and improve an individual’s smile. We provide custom-made clear aligners for a patient to wear throughout the treatment process. If you are wanting to look further into this treatment, do not hesitate to book a free consultation to talk to us about Invisalign Weybridge.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign Weybridge consists of a clear, transparent aligner which is designed and manufactured specifically for a patient’s teeth. Each time an aligner is removed and replaced with a new set, the teeth structure starts to change and develop. This will occur until the teeth are in the prescribed alignment that the orthodontist had recommended. These invisible aligners will be changed regularly, every two weeks, to adjust the current structure of the patient’s teeth.

For those individuals who prefer an invisible look when considering braces Invisalign is highly recommended. Invisalign braces have the ability to be removed, this can be in situations such as eating and drinking. They can also be removed when a patient wants to clean them. Since the sets of aligners are made from high quality material, the aligners will work effectively to achieve the desired result.

Who is Invisalign suitable for?

At Weybridge Orthodontics we will check whether Invisalign is the appropriate method to use when meeting a patient at the first consultation. This will take a series of 2 steps to put this to test.

Step 1 will consist of an initial scan of the patient’s teeth which will usually happen at the first consultation. This will create a 3D virtual illustration of a treatment plan that will be best suitable for the patient. This will present aspects such as what movements of the teeth the treatment will entail and the final result of how it will turn out. This is also referred to as Clincheck. This will also include the duration and length of time the treatment process will take.

At step 2 the results will be able to form the suitable clear, shaped aligners for the specified patient; these are custom made. When the patient is happy to proceed with the treatment plan an initial deposit will need to be paid to produce the Invisalign aligners. This can be paid over 18-24 months through the use of monthly instalments. At Weybridge Orthodontics we also provide a fee guide for individuals to find out the prices of monthly payments, this will be available on request.

Treatment aftercare

After an Invisalign treatment it is highly advised to wear a retainer, however there are several steps that can also be taken in advance. Daily brushing and flossing should be maintained as per usual; patients can also use a fluoride mouthwash if possible. It is also recommended to visit our dentist and get regular check-ups to make sure that both the gums and teeth are monitored. Another form of aftercare treatment is to maintain a healthy diet and try to avoid eating sweets and sugary drinks, to make the most of your new smile.

Lingual; the low key brace

Incognito are a dental brace system with a twist, the braces are affixed to the back of your teeth and are also known as lingual braces. We can fit lingual braces to patients of any age. Incognito in Weybridge has been our premium brace, popular with adult professionals due to their low profile and high manufacturing quality.

The manufacturing

Each brace that the brand manufactures is unique to the patient and its design is guided by the precise prescription submitted by our orthodontist. So, your brace will be capable of carrying out your treatment while being as light and unobtrusive as possible.

What could my brace look like?

From the outside of your mouth, nothing at all; no part of the brace extends to the front of your teeth. Our Incognito Weybridge is as flat as possible to the inside of the tooth line, with each gold bracket custom made for the tooth it is fixed to. With only a single archwire, its flat form makes it unlikely to interfere with speech or eating.

How long will treatment take with Incognito Weymouth?

This is very variable and heavily influenced by the conditions of each patient’s teeth. The precision engineering that goes into each brace makes very small alterations possible, and our orthodontist will use them to safely and efficiently carry out your treatment.

In general, a traditional brace would have a shorter treatment time and a clear aligner a longer one, but not all conditions can be corrected using all three methods, so you will have to talk to one of our clinical staff to find out more.

Will it be uncomfortable?

All braces and aligners cause a degree of discomfort when encouraging teeth to alter their position. There are additional discomforts from braces rubbing the inside of cheeks or being over tightened. These are avoided with such a high-quality lingual brace. The fitting leaves no sharp edges or jagged protrusions and the placement behind the teeth prevent the brace from coming into contact with the inside of the lips.

This precision-engineered brace gives excellent control down to very low tolerances, reducing the risk of over-tightening or the brace working itself loose.

New ways of working

To cope with these uncertain times, we have all had to find new ways of working. We have implemented virtual visits with a free orthodontic consultation, to allow you to discuss if treatment is needed with our specialist.

Our first virtual orthodontic consultation for Incognito in Weybridge is no obligation, after which you can decide if you wish to continue with orthodontics online. We will use clinical photographs, and you will only come into the surgery for an X-ray or to take impressions if necessary. From these and your clinical records, a treatment plan can be formulated.

Surgery accessibility

Our surgery is fitted to provide care to all patients. We have a disabled toilet, lift and priority parking immediately next to the front entrance.

To book at appointment feel free to email us or telephone our reception, we will be pleased to help you.

What is Invisalign treatment like?

Invisalign in Weybridge is a relatively modern alternative to braces; not surprising when you consider that the metal orthodontic brace has been in clinics for more than a century. The clear aligners are a set of 3D printed, UV light-cured forms which are worn on the teeth to progressively straighten them. They are both lightweight and see through, making them very subtle and extremely easy to wear.

How do you get clear aligners?

An assessment has to be performed; there is a good range of conditions clear aligners can help with and few restrictions on using them, but an orthodontist will still need to check if they are appropriate for you.

If you decide to proceed, a 3D model of your teeth is made. This used to be done by producing a dental mould, but now we use an intraoral scanner and construct the model directly from your teeth.

The scans are uploaded into a specialist piece of software, ClinCheck, and an orthodontist digitally moves the tooth positions and orientations until they are aligned. ClinCheck then uses the final tooth position and the original tooth position to calculate the required forces and directions of those forces, the vectors, to achieve the planned alterations.

Only then can the aligners be designed to apply the correct force vectors to the teeth. Each aligner can only apply force dependent on its elasticity, which is only effective over very small distances. As the teeth move, the aligner must be replaced with the next one in the sequence, pushing the teeth to their final positions.

How to get the most from aligners

The aligners must be worn as often as you can, except when eating, up to 21-22 hours per day. The presence of the aligners will prevent the natural flow of saliva over your teeth, so it is important to brush your teeth after eating before you replace your aligners to prevent cavities.

For most people, wearing aligners becomes second nature and it’s easy to forget you’re wearing them. They are very thin and are unlikely to affect your speech. Most of the time Invisalign Weybridge is just overlooked.

Does Invisalign hurt?

Using Invisalign Weybridge on many patients, we have noticed that the way these aligners constantly apply force to the teeth causes much less discomfort than a metal brace. This seems to be due to the more giving nature of the plastic, and the way the minimum forces are being applied to move the tooth. This is dictated by computer modelling which is used to design the aligner.

Virtual visits

If you’re interested or wondering if a clear aligner might be right for you, we are offering virtual visits and consultations with our orthodontists. These are free and no obligation, which can be helpful for nervous patients or those who are self-isolating during this difficult time.

To find out more you can call us or refer to our website where there is more information on how we can help you with Invisalign Weybridge.

Our orthodontics team in Weybridge is here to help with altering the position of crooked teeth. Poorly meshing and misaligned teeth are a common issue, affecting about one-third of children. We are also seeing more adults who are pursuing this treatment.

Our common treatments

Clarity is a clear ceramic bracketed brace. It uses the same method of action as a traditional metal brace, but is far more subtle.

The Damon brace is unique in that its brackets are free to slide along the archwire without binding up due to friction. This allows faster tooth migration than a fixed brace system.

Essix Retainer

For orthodontics Weybridge this is a regular favourite, mostly fabricated from PVC, these clear retainers keep teeth in place after a brace has been removed. This is to ‘retain’ the progress made by the brace.

Functional appliances

A functional appliance is a sort of double brace, which alters the position of the teeth on both the top and bottom jaw simultaneously. They are formed of multiple acrylic blocks which sit on the top and bottom palate. These are used to expand the jaw to alleviate issues like overcrowding.

Upper removable appliances

These are the little brother of the removable appliances, where just the top section is used. It treats malocclusion where the upper teeth are splaying out or falling into the mouth.

Gemini by 3M Unitek is the brand of traditional metal brace that we use for orthodontics  Weybridge. They are a reliable stand-by which thousands of people owe their smiles to. We provide them with coloured bracket bands for a fun way of decorating your brace if desired.

This is our premium brace, crafted for each tooth of each patient, its gold brackets have a slender form and are very light. Fixed to the inside of the teeth with no aspect of the brace encroaching to the front of the mouth, it is the most subtle metal brace. Fitted with a single high-tension archwire to minimise the risk of trapped debris and to allow ease of cleaning.

Invisalign is a provider of clear aligners that correct minor to moderate orthodontic issues. They’re light and see-through, easy to wear and clean. This is good, as the patient needs to use them whenever they’re not eating for the treatment to be effective.

Wire-bonded retainer

Teeth have a habit of returning to their original locations after a brace has been removed. If the teeth are front teeth and have been substantially moved, the risks are higher. To stop this, the wire-bonded retainer is used. Unlike most retainers, it is fixed into the mouth and only removed once the teeth are fixed into their new positions.

The Six-Month Smile

This is the name used to describe a short, but intense, provider of cosmetically driven orthodontic treatment in adults. The treatment is focussed on the front teeth and aims to optimise the aesthetics of a patient’s smile. If you are interested in having orthodontics Weybridge get in touch with us to find the best treatment for you.

Invisalign – how does it work and why do we offer it to our patients?

If you have spent any time online looking up orthodontics you have probably seen something about clear aligners. Our Invisalign in Weybridge service is the only clear aligner we offer, but why?

The clear aligner is not a new idea, there had been attempts to find an alternative to braces using plastic from the 1970s onwards, but those dental splints were eventually abandoned. Rubber gum shield aligners worn over a brace to reduce overall treatment time were briefly experimented with. This did reduce the need for braces, but never had widespread use as they were impractical for many patients to use.

There had to be a few breakthroughs in material sciences and manufacturing before invisible aligners were viable. So a small start-up proposed the idea of making moulds of a patient’s teeth and digitalising them in a scanning studio. Then, using the resulting 3D model and an anatomically correct simulation of a mouth, they would be able to predict the quantity and directions of forces required to move the teeth to new positions. These vectors were then used to digitally create an aligner that would generate those forces when placed in the patient’s mouth.

The digital aligner was then 3D printed; this was very novel in the 90s and the use of computing in dentistry was seen as cutting edge, therefore a patent was awarded. As 3D scanning and printing boomed, the cost reduced and quality rose, only improving the methods championed by this brand of invisible braces.

Our Invisalign Weybridge makes full use of the power of computing in dentistry. The newest versions of ClinCheck, the software developed by this brand of brace, is used in our clinic. It has the capacity to show you predicted outcomes of using clear aligners.

Despite their patent, some competitors have entered the clear aligner market in recent years, many using direct TV and online advertising. They promise rapid results and are happy to provide aligners based on DIY dental mould at home and completing a questionnaire. This business model has been condemned by the British Orthodontic Society, who have warned that the use of clear aligners without the supervision of a clinician could cause long term damage and questions the motivations of suppliers who operate without dentists.

Invisalign Weybridge is provided via our dental staff giving us full oversight and allowing us to advise each patient on the suitability of clear aligners for them. We would only use aligner manufacturers who exclusively work within dental clinics.

The communication with your local dentist is an important part of the effectiveness and safe use of any aligner. Your initial consultation with our orthodontist for Invisalign Weybridge will be free and without obligation.

If you have any further questions or would like to book a consultation with us feel free to contact us by telephone or email us. We are happy to see you in person, but following government guidelines with infection prevention and control, please contact us before you arrive at the clinic. We will ensure a safe tooth straightening journey with Invisalign.

What is Incognito in Weybridge?

Incognito Weybridge is the only kind of teeth straightening device that is truly invisible when you smile. Although many other devices boast discretion, they are still visible, usually in the form of a clear plastic tray or teeth coloured brackets and wires.

This treatment however is attached to the back of your teeth and therefore there is no sign of you using a teeth straightening device when you smile. Many people have some concerns about a speech impediment with a device that is attached to the back of their teeth, however for most users of Incognito Weybridge, they adjust within the first few weeks and then there is no concern whatsoever.

How does this treatment look?

Incognito Weybridge is very similar looking to traditional braces although they are attached to the back of your teeth and not the front. In addition, they are coated with gold plating to ensure that there are minimal grooves and edges that can trap food or cut your tongue.

Because we spend a lot of time cleaning in between wires of traditional braces to remove stuck debris, since this device is attached to the back of your teeth and we would be unable to see any food stuck, we need to cover the device to create a smooth surface to ensure teeth remain clean and healthy throughout the duration of treatment.

Some of our patients choose to use this treatment for their upper arch and a more traditional device on their lower arch to reduce the costs of their plan. If you are considering using a truly invisible device to straighten your teeth, then feel free to discuss with us the many options that are available to you, so that we can create a bespoke plan that is aligned to your needs and goals, and in order that you can experience the best possible teeth straightening journey.

It is important to us that you feel confident and in control of this momentous time, ensuring that you are willing to go through with the treatment and benefit from the life changing advantages that straighter teeth offer you.

What are some of the advantages that straight teeth can offer?

Having straight teeth is beneficial both for your self-esteem and general wellbeing. Your teeth when crossed and cramped are more difficult to clean, meaning that your oral health is generally at a disadvantage when compared to others who have a correct bite and alignment.

When teeth are not as clean as they can be, plaque and tartar builds up which can cause bad breath, cavities and eventual tooth loss.

Your self-esteem also suffers, both because there is an expectation to have beautiful straight and white teeth and because we tend to unconsciously judge others who do not align to these health goals.

By choosing to make a positive impact on your health by straightening your teeth, you are choosing to honour your wellbeing and we will be eternally supportive of this. Let’s discuss the personal changes that you can experience by straightening your teeth and finding the best possible device to allow you to confidently and comfortably do this, today.

Invisalign Weybridge: Weybridge Orthodontics and you

At Weybridge Orthodontics, we care about all of our patients’ needs and we understand the importance of feeling confident in the treatment we provide. For many adults, however, the thought of choosing visible braces to improve the alignment of their smile makes them feel like doing anything but smile and we know it! Choosing Invisalign Weybridge with us at Weybridge Orthodontics could be the solution you’re looking for.

What is Invisalign Weybridge?

Invisalign is an alternative to fixed, visible braces. It consists of clear plastic aligners that are bespoke, made to fit comfortably along the gum line. As the name suggests, when worn, they are barely visible to other people and are basically invisible! The aligners apply gentle pressure to your teeth to gradually move them into the desired position. You will receive sets of aligners to take home and change on a weekly basis, coming for check-ups every six weeks or so.

Why should I choose Invisalign?

If you’re looking for a discreet solution to realigning your smile, then Invisalign does just that. We find that our patients enjoy the flexibility that Invisalign offers. You can remove the aligners when brushing and flossing, enabling you to look after your teeth and gums properly. You can also remove them when you are eating and drinking, so there’s no need to clean your dinner off them after having enjoyed a meal – a slightly less pleasant way to end a meal! Not only that, but you can remove the aligners when you want to play a particular sport or if you have a social event that you don’t want to wear them for. The flexibility and choice that Invisalign offers allows you to have control over your treatment and still get results – as long as you generally aim for around 22 hours a day of wearing the aligners.

Another major benefit to choosing Invisalign is that they are comfortable to wear. This is thanks to the fact that you will have an iTero scan which will get the exact measurements of your mouth for your aligners to be made and allows a 3D animation to be made to show you what your teeth will look like after treatment, before you’ve even started wearing them! There’s nothing like a little bit of imagination to help your motivation for treatment. Invisalign also offers a range for teenagers called InvisalignTeen and motivation factors can always be useful – the scan just won’t get them to do their homework any more willingly!

Finally, clear plastic aligners tend not to break as easily as other brace systems such as fixed braces. This means you shouldn’t be needing as many emergency appointments, if any. We know that you will have a lot of commitments and won’t want to be visiting us too frequently and you shouldn’t have to. If you do need to see us, though, we are always here and ready to help. Just book in with our friendly receptionists for an appointment and we look forward to greeting you.

For a smile that shines, check out Invisalign and find the confidence that a great smile brings.
